From: lonewolf@btinternet.com (LoneWolf) Newsgroups: alt.fan.pratchett Subject: [F] Oxenfjord proposed AFP Birthday Meet Date: Sun, 22 Nov 1998 22:59:00 GMT Message-ID: <36588e6a.2491525@news.btinternet.com> Okay, then - the basic scenario is as follows: On friday 8th January 1999, I will be turning 18 years of age, and to celebrate the occasion, I intend to have an afp-meet organized for the 9th (the saturday). After a brief discussion with Stewart yesterday, I was informed that he had been trying to get together a follow up to October's meet in the new year, and that this had met with general approval. The suggestion was made that if the response to this date is very favourable, then the two could become one. Otherwise, this will just be a mini-meet, Stewart's larger one taking place at a later date. One thing to note, it's my intention that this be an afp-meet, and not a substitute for an eighteenth birthday party[2]. Hmm - post looks a bit short but that's about it. So, feedback - anyone? [2] ie birthday person and friends getting as inebriated as possible[3] -- LoneWolf LoneWolf@btinternet.com ICQ: 10385934 "There once was a lonely wolf, lonelier than angels" From: LoneWolf <lonewolf@btinternet.com> Newsgroups: alt.fan.pratchett.announce,alt.fan.pratchett,alt.books.pratchett Subject: [ANNOUNCE][F] Oxenfjord Birthday Mini-Meet 9th Jan Date: Sun, 06 Dec 1998 19:22:44 GMT Message-ID: <19981206.192244.40@afawcett.demon.co.uk> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Well, here's the Announce - eventually :) Date: 9th January 1999 Place: The Grapes, George Street Time: 7pm(ish). How to get to the pub: [directions copied and altered from Stewart's Announce] - From the train station - turn left towards town and you will see a big junction. You want to take the fork on the left (called Hythe Bridge Street) this road will take you past the Blackwells HQ, a futon shop and Jongleurs. Keep walking till you to get to a crossroad (of sorts). You want to go straight across (to the LHS of a Chinese Restaurant called The Opium Den). This road is called George Street. Walk up a bit, and the entrance to the bus station is on your left. (continue as from bus station). - From the Bus station - Walk out of the bus station onto George street (via Gloucester Green if you so please), and turn left. Keep going past the turn to the right (New Inn Hall Street) and to the left (with Old Orleans and the Cock and Camel on the corners) until you're a fair way up, and the Grapes is on the right, just after the Wig and Pen (be careful not to miss it - it's a bit small) ASCII map [from the Lspace archives]: w w wbbbbbbbbbbm w m w m w m BR PP hBBBBBBBwggggggggggcssssssssss \| h PPw G c pppppppppppppppppppn c h nnn c h nnn Tc h CqqqqHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH h C a h C a h C a BR = train station PP = parking (two are shown) p = Park End Street h = Hollybush Row B = Hythe Bridge Street w = Worcester Street N = New Road C = Castle Street q = Queen Street c = Cornmarket Street b = Beaumont Street m = Magdalen Street G = The Grapes H = High Street a = St Aldates s = Broad Street T = Carfax clock tower Bits 'n bobs: I'd appreciate it if you contact me via email if you intend on coming (it'd just be nice to have a good idea about numbers, in case of needing to move venue). If anyone needs crash space, or can offer any - let me know. That's about it. I should point out that the Grapes does serve Stowford Press, one of the main reasons for choosing it. - -- LoneWolf LoneWolf@btinternet.com ICQ: 10385934 " . . . and the wolf shall return." - Terry Easterly -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: noconv iQBVAwUBNmral1EnYeztdy65AQFvuwIAtqlnPW1iDS1+eqXKo21DTxfyduKt80oa I0faXU/VwcNG8c5lqzruNHhGHbGwQIDj5WIIdplYBYoO1Tk8OyR3EQ== =+DBc -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions for alt.fan.pratchett.announce to: afpa-mod@lspace.org PLEASE READ http://www.lspace.org/fandom/afp/announce/guidelines.html before submitting articles to afp.announce.
