On the grounds that the wonderful Joy Green will travelling half way
around the world and popping into Ipswich on September 19th it would
seem like a good idea to hold an afpmeet at the same time.
Being a Sunday, the usual pub meet is probably less than ideal, so I
have an alternative suggestion - the Ice Cream parlour!
The Ice Cream parlour is the closest thing to paradise in Ipswich, it
has over 50 different ice creams and sorbets giving over 3000 flavour
combinations to experiment with - fuller details are available at

The only minor hitch is that the Ice cream parlour doesn't usually open
on Sunday's. But, Rob, the owner will arrange special openings for
party bookings. So, I need to know if anyone other than me likes this
idea, and if so if they would be able to be in Ipswich for around 2.30pm
on the aforementioned Sunday. I would expect the meet to finish fairly
early (say 5pm) although general socialising could happen afterwards for
those who don't have too far to travel.
Please let me know if you are interested and if there is enough interest
I will make the necessary arrangements.

In honour of Joy Green's visit to England, and to Ipswich in
particular... you are cordially invited to afpsemble at I-Scream! (The
Ice Cream Parlour) 32 St Peter's Street, Ipswich from approx 2:30pm on
Sunday 19th September.
Since the shop is opening specially (to make sure normal people and
afpers don't mix) I do need to have a reasonable idea of how
many people will be attending so suitable numbers of staff can be
made available. Please email me if you plan to attend.
To whet your appetites, I-Scream specialise in ice cream
sundaes - that starts as a bowl with mini marshmallows, your choice of
sauce, your choice of two flavours of ice cream or sorbet (from the 50
or so on offer), topped with cream, nuts and a cherry and your
choice from around 30 different varieties of sweeties (flying saucers,
cola bottles, jelly babies, flumps, rainbow drops, licorice torpedos
etc) - all this for just two pounds twenty five. From there it moves up
to bigger and yummier sundaes, some of which even include
