From: Ben Hutchings <womble@zzumbouk.demon.co.uk> Newsgroups: alt.fan.pratchett.announce,alt.fan.pratchett,alt.books.pratchett Subject: [ANNOUNCE][F] Cambridge Fanattiecal Meet, 15th-16th April Date: 9 Apr 2000 12:05:02 +0100 Message-ID: <090400120455afpa@afawcett.demon.co.uk> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- This is the first and final reminder of next weekend's meet. Date: Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April Time: Saturday: from 2 pm Sunday: from around 1pm Location: Saturday: 2-3 pm The Castle on *St Andrew's Street* 6-11 pm The Castle Inn on *Castle Hill* Sunday: around 1 pm Meet in Market Square, drift on to lunch nearby 6-11 pm The Castle Inn on *Castle Hill* This meet really will feature Natalie Mayer, Renegade Soubrette, as a star guest. The plan is to re-run last year's Finalsmoot, but probably with more *vom*. Be prepared - bring your *vom* cards and earmuffs^W^W. On Saturday, aside from sitting in pubs, there will be an excursion to the Fitzwilliam Museum. Some may prefer to tour bookshops or other attractions, in which case the meet can split and then rejoin in the evening. On Sunday afternoon, punting is planned. In case of poor weather, there are alternative plans, but these are highly secret. (That is to say, a bit vague. But they do exist, oh yes.) Contact ======= Please use the address afpmeet(at)zzumbouk.demon.co.uk for all mail to me relating to this meet. (Sorry for the spam-trap, but I already get multiple copies and I don't want another.) If you expect to arrive early or while the meet is not at a fixed location, you may like to obtain my mobile phone number so you can find out where to go. If so, please ask me for it. Crash space =========== I can provide at least 3 spaces on Saturday night and 1 on Sunday; possibly more if needed. If any other Cambridge afpers can offer additional space, please let me know, so that I can match bodies with spaces. How to find me ============== Go to the appropriate location. In case you don't know who to look for, you may be able to identify me from the recent picture at <URL:http://www.zzumbouk.demon.co.uk/afpmeet/silly-me.jpg>. My Palm Pilot may be a bit of a giveaway. Directions ========== Maps are available at <URL:http://www.zzumbouk.demon.co.uk/afpmeet/>. * From the train station to St Andrew's Street: Walk down Station Road. At the end, turn right onto Hills Road. Go straight on into Regent Street and then St Andrew's Street. The Castle will be on the left. * From the coach station to St Andrew's Street: Walk through the shops onto St Andrew's Street. Turn left. The Castle will be on the right. * From the M11 to St Andrew's Street: Take the road to Cambridge from junction 13 (Madingley Road). Turn left at the roundabout into Northampton Street. Continue straight on into Chesterton Road until you reach a one-way system (actually a kind of roundabout). Go around this until you are heading back the way you came, and make a left turn onto Victoria Avenue. Turn right at the roundabout onto Jesus Lane. Take the next right into Park Street, and use the multi-storey car park. Leaving the car park, walk back and turn right onto Jesus Street, turn left at the end of it, and go straight on. The Castle will be on your right. * From the A14 to St Andrew's Street: Turn onto the B1049 (Histon Road). When you get to a junction with a petrol station on your right, turn left onto Victoria Road. Continue straight on until you reach a one-way system (actually a kind of roundabout). Go around this until you are heading roughly back the way you came, and make a left turn onto Victoria Avenue. See the above directions from Victoria Avenue. * From the train station to Castle Hill: Please, just take a taxi. * From the bus station to Castle Hill: Walk through the shops onto St Andrew's Street. Turn right. Turn slightly left at the taxi rank onto Sidney Street. Walk straight on through Sidney Street, Bridge Street, Magdalene Street and into Castle Street. The Castle will be on the right. * From the M11 to Castle Hill: Take the road to Cambridge from junction 13 (Madingley Road). Turn left at the roundabout into Northampton Street. Turn left at the cross-roads, up Castle Street. The Castle Inn is on the right, and there is a public car park on the right beyond it. I think this is free at the weekend, but I could be wrong. * From the A14 to Castle Hill: Turn onto the B1049 (Histon Road). When you get to a junction with a petrol station on your right, turn right and then left onto Castle Street. There is a car park on the left, and The Castle Inn is slightly further down on the left. - -- Ben Hutchings - womble@zzumbouk.demon.co.uk, http://www.zzumbouk.demon.co. uk All extremists should be taken out and shot. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3i Charset: noconv iQBVAwUBOPBj2VEnYeztdy65AQFT0wH+MjXXxftj2t5YfXp6fQgSwfaeOqbydQgJ RFOytp85lNiUXxqPZQqn7Orq3iz/xQN9YpLRnnkxetum3i5sSyLnvg== =KskF -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions for alt.fan.pratchett.announce to: afpa-mod@lspace.org All submissions are PGP signed.
