I think my Muse is on the loose... dunno what she's called, though. Probably Poetastrikè, muse of wretched rhymes. Ah well, at least she isn't Rumramruffia, empress of excessive allitteration <shudder>.

Bridge Over Troubled Water.

When you're weary, walking far,
When holes are in your shoes, you know where you are:
On Morpork side, where stones are rough,
And you can feel the sand,
On a bridge over troubled water,
Where the hippos stand,
On a bridge over troubled water,
Where the hippos stand.

When you're on patrol, when you're on the beat,
When footsteps fall so hard, running down the street;
In hot pursuit, when watchmen fight,
You lend your men a hand,
On a bridge over troubled water,
Where the hippos stand,
On a bridge over troubled water,
Where the hippos stand.

Walk on, watchman Vimes, walk on by,
Lord Vetinari called, a promotion's on its way.
See how it shines, your new copper's badge.
Again you're raised in rank.
On a bridge over troubled water,
Stands the Duke of Ankh,
On a bridge over troubled water,
Stands the Duke of Ankh.

Anyone who does not know this tune should get their head out of that bucket right now <g>. Though I must say, there are S&G songs that deserve to be much better known than this one.
