Morpork Nights
or
*"Wellcome to Ankh-Morpork, Cittie of One Thousand Surprises"*
to "O little town of Bethlehem"

O Morpork on the River Ankh,
How still we see thee lie.
Above thy fitful, smelly sleep
The silent stars go by.
And in thy dark streets shineth
A multi-coloured light -
The Seamstress' Guild has opened and
Is doing well tonight.

How silently, how silently
Assassins prowl the streets
As "Two o'clock and all's not well"
Cry Watchmen on their beats.
Then something howls at midnight,
And zombies are about;
While mortals sleep, the golems keep
The candles churning out.

Walk down Grope Alley to the Shades,
Where wizards grip their knobs,
And Chrysoprase the Breccia Don
Sends trolls on Family jobs.
And see the helpless tourist,
With spectacles and gold,
Eat Dibbler's sausage-inna-bun
That's only two months old.

Now Hogswatch is approaching,
And all the merchants pray
That skeletons in robes of red
Won't pass their shop today.
They hope that Pixie Albert
Won't give kids what they _need_,
So healthy profits can be made
From children's usual greed.
