OK, Prompted by the Mole's posting of character based filks, I thought I'd better get my own set finished before they became obsolete :)
Filks for the Major Discworld Characters. (Part 1 of many)
Ridcully: To the Tune of "Eye Of The Tiger"
Rising up, five in the morning.
Got my rods, and got my crossbows.
' heard there were monsters that look good on a wall
I'm a man with the urge to collect
I want a Head of a Tiger or a demon of hell
So I can get it stuffed and get it mounted
and the most fiercesome creatures in the jungles of Klatch
should watch out because I think I should... make a call there.
With my rod, I draw an octogram
then I mumble words of power
Raise my arms and say the last of the spell
then I'm gone, with a flash and a smile
I want a Head of a Tiger or a demon of hell
So I can get it stuffed and get it mounted
and the most fiercesome creatures in the jungles of Klatch
are all hiding because I am now... On my way there.
and now, I'm creeping through trees
got my prey just where I want them
raise my crossbow and I let fly the bolt
one more notch to be carved on the butt
I have a Head of a Tiger and a demon of hell
I will now have them stuffed and have them mounted
and the most fiercesome creatures in the jungles of Klatch
are endangered because I have now... been around there .
Susan: To The Tune of Running in the Family
I know I'm different to the rest, 'cos I have this gift
to walk through any wall I choose
And I can fade from your vision, and you won't see me
until I decide to let you.
Looking back it's not bizarre, it runs in the family.
All those things I do
When you grandfather is Death, your father his apprentice
strange things you'd do too
and I still have my father's scar
I see some monsters every day, and the tooth fairy
and bogeymen that hide from others
But monsters are afraid of me, cos if they are caught...
the poker is a fearful thing
Looking back it's not bizarre, it runs in the family.
All those things I know
When you grandfather is Death, your father his apprentice
strange things you know too
and I still have my father's scar
I wish I wasn't quite like this. I just want to be
a normal person like my mother
Not knowing all the things I do, and whose problems are
the ones you deal with normally
Looking back it's not bizarre, it runs in the family.
All those things I crave
'cos my grandfather did too, when my father worked for him
He wanted the same things
and he briefly got them too
Looking back it's not bizarre, it runs in the family.
All those things I do
When you grandfather is Death, your father his apprentice
strange things you'd do too
and I still have my father's scar
OK, that's all for now, but I gave many others that are being completed piece by piece... My eventual aim is to have a filk for each major character, and some of the minor ones too.
