Thanks for those suggestions! I am determines to get this perfect - my trouble is having only a very old LP version of the song, and a lack of familiarity with it. The first two lines popped into my head while reading the Filks, so I felt I had to do them.

Sator Square / Canticle

Sator Square: words by Harry Giles, music by Paul Simon
Canticle: words by Richard Bos, music by Art Garfunkel

Are you going to old Sator Square?
Dwarf bread, shale, sausages and pies...
Remember - avoid the food-seller there
He's the one who caused me to die

I tell you beware of the items he sells
(On the tide of the stream in the harbour of Ankh)
Dwarf bread, shale, sausages and pies...
(Painting of warships on river of brown)
Try to resist the amorous smells
(Blankets and bedclothes, the City Watch copper)
They're the ones that caused me to die
(Sleeps unaware of the bingely-beep)

I tell you the sausage adrift in his pan
(On the tide of the stream an army of men)
Dwarf bread, shale, sausages and pies...
(Sails for the sands of Klatchian shores)
Of the type famous throughout the land
(A watchman cleans and polishes a sword)
For being the type that caused me to die

I tell you to keep well away from his wares
(War engines blazing on scarlet battalions,)
Dwarf bread, shale, sausages and pies...
(Noblemen order their servants to kill)
They are the source of many health scares
(And to fight for an isle they soon 'll have forgotten)
They're the ones that caused me to die

Are you going to old Sator Square?
Dwarf bread, shale, sausages and pies...
Remember - avoid the food-seller there
He's the one who caused me to die
