<two filks in one : must be cutting me own throat :-) >
A long, long time ago
A llamedos boy noted how
That music used to make him smile
And he knew if he had his chance
That harp might make those wizards dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while
But all that rain made him shiver
With every boulder he'd deliver
Bad news at the mineshaft
Any more and he'd be daft
He can't remember if he cried
When from papa he tried to hide
But something touched him deep inside
The day he should have died
So
Why, why, oh why let him die !
Drove through dust, cart to the summit
but the horses did shy
In drum ol' boys quaffing scumble and pie
Singing "This'll be the day that Death rides
This'll be the day that Death rides
Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in gods above
If granddaughter tells you so ?
Now with that dwarf and that blue troll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow ?
Well we know she's in love with him
Cause we saw her dancing in the gym
Chatting with the Death of Rats
Man, I dig those funky cats
He went on tour for Dibbler buck
With Asphalt roadie and a cabbage truck
Then he knew he had some luck
The day he should have died
I started singing
Why, why, oh why let him die !
Drove through dust, cart to the summit
but the horses did shy
In drum ol' boys quaffing scumble and pie
Singing "This'll be the day that Death rides
This'll be the day that Death rides
Now for many years she was on her own
And moss grows fat on a rolling stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the King and Queen
In a court, in that ramtops Lancre scene
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh, and while the King was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The witches were involved
The mystery resolved
And while Hwel wrote another page
The players practiced on the stage
And witches altered their image
Before he should have died
We were singing
Why, why, oh why let him die !
Drove through dust, cart to the summit
but the horses did shy
In drum ol' boys quaffing scumble and pie
Singing "This'll be the day that Death rides
This'll be the day that Death rides
