I had a few problems with the last verse. It's still not perfect, but it will scan with a little good-will and a healthy tongue.

The Only Living Girl In The House
(to The Only Living Boy In New York, P. Simon and A. Garfunkel)

Mort, get the job right on time.
I know that scythe'll do fine.
Ride up to Death's Domain,
Da-n-da-da-n-da-n-da-da and there she is,
The only living girl in the house.

You get the names you need from the Duty reports,
You can gather all the names you need from the Duty report.
Hey, you've got nothing to kill today but time.
Da-n-do-da-n-do-da-n-do, there she is,
The only living girl in the house.

Half of the time Death's gone and we don't know where,
No, we don't know where.

Half of the time Death's gone and we don't know where,
No, we don't know where.

Mort, get the horse right on time.
I know you've been waiting to try that sword.
Hey, let your humanity shine, shine, shine,
Da-n-da-da-n-da-n-da-da,
Like it shines on her,
The only living girl in the house,
The only living girl in the house.

Right, so I've bought Bridge over Troubled Water, and it seems that they're quite filkable. In fact, have patience, I've nearly finished Bridge itself (no points for guessing _which_ Troubled Water), and The Boxer. Keep My Customers Satisfied shows definite promise, and there is an obvious subject for So Long. However, the booklet is a disgrace. The CD is quite nice, thank you, but the booklet looks like whoever typed the text and made it up didn't actually speak English. One song has been cut in half, lines are missing, and, e.g., the Da-n-da's above are what it says in the booklet, but definitely not what is sung. Since it's nonsense syllables I wasn't able to quite write down what it should be, so I just put in what was written; but surely P.S. and A.G. should have the proper lyrics? Then WTF aren't they printed properly?

So, a plea: does anybody know where I can find the _real_ lyrics to the Bridge album? I've tried a web-search, but even the S&G FAQ has only two sites, one of which is 404 and the other has lyrics for El Condor Pasa that I _know_ aren't correct, so I'm not inclined to trust it on the rest.

Oh, and plug your ears before the other filks come along.

Richard
