Techies, Nerds and Geeks ("Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves")
I was found in a phonebox wired up to the 'net
My Dad says he only brought me home for a bet
From birth i'd always find something to hack
Build a little Lego
Fiddle with some off-cuts from Radio Shack
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
We'd hear it from the lusers all the time, they'd call us
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
But all the same, they begged us to come around
When the systems had gone down
Picked up a box for eighty-five pounds
Saved from lunch money and my paper round
1 kilobyte ZX81
Wrote a clone of Frogger
And dreamed about boxes by a firm called Sun
Soon upgraded and sold my life
I'm a transistor's child
12 years later i'm a geek with a network
And I haven't had sex all the while
I haven't had sex all the while
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
We'd hear it from directors all the time, they'd call us
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
All the same, they still try to strap us down
In corporation town
Now i code and i admin and i troubleshoot stuff
The last year i know i've suffered more than enough
Electric appeal is wearing pretty damn' thin
Just another year, now
Just another year and i can pack it all in
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
We'd hear it from consultants all the time, they'd call us
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
But it's still us that they call up on the phone
Each time they have a moan
Gonna pack in the systems, gonna hang up my mouse
Gonna burn every last RFC in my house
Get me a life, gonna be a man
Got less self respect now,
Than the guy who empties your garbage can
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
We'd hear it from the world all the time, they'd call us
Techies, Nerds and Geeks
What the hell, i suppose it's kindly meant
And at least it pays the rent
